On our way to New Plymouth we saw a lot of american flags everywhere. We had no idea what was going on until we found out at the visitor centre it was the Americarnia festival weekend. The hotel where we stayed also accommodated quite a few people participating in the festival, and the parking lot was full of amazing american cars half a centruy old.
